Kazakhstan–Kyrgyzstan Visa Rules for a CAIHE Regional Sourcing Trip

The fastest way to turn CAIHE into a regional sourcing trip is to make Tashkent the anchor. CAIHE runs 24–26 November 2026 at Uzexpocentre, Pavilions 3 and 4, with more than 200 international exhibitors across hardware, tools, building materials, and industrial supplies [4]. Before you add Almaty or Bishkek, treat Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan as three separate entry decisions. Uzbekistan’s 30-day visa-free policy for 60-plus countries does not automatically clear you for its neighbours [1].

Set the trip in this order: pre-register for CAIHE, confirm your passport for each country, then book the regional flights.

Why Buyers Add Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan

Most buyers come to Tashkent for the market, not only for the show. Kazakhstan is the larger, export-oriented trade partner and Almaty is its commercial centre. Kyrgyzstan works as a smaller re-export and wholesale market, with strong connections into Russian-language distribution networks. Both countries send buyers and distributors to CAIHE, and many exhibitor conversations are easier to continue when you can follow up a few days later near their offices.

Adding a side trip also makes the first-edition advantage more practical: you can move from sourcing at the fair to checking a distributor’s real physical footprint, warehouse access, and regional logistics in the same week.

Three Separate Visa Regimes

Entry rules differ by country, and each stay is counted separately. A buyer who spends three days in Kazakhstan and four days in Kyrgyzstan does not use up seven days of a single regional allowance. Each country applies its own period [2][3].

  • Uzbekistan: 60-plus countries qualify for 30-day visa-free entry. Chinese ordinary passport holders are included [1].
  • Kazakhstan: 30-day visa-free entry applies to citizens of many OECD, EU, Gulf, and Asian markets, including China [2].
  • Kyrgyzstan: many Western and Asian passport holders receive 60 days visa-free. Chinese ordinary passport holders can stay up to 30 days under a bilateral visa-free agreement [3].

If your passport is not on a visa-free list, check each country’s e-visa or consular route separately. Do not assume that a visa for one Central Asian state covers another.

Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan Entry Rules at a Glance

Kazakhstan. Eligible visitors may enter for up to 30 calendar days without a visa [2]. At the airport or land border, an officer may ask the purpose of the visit. “Business meetings tied to a trade fair” is a normal answer, and having your CAIHE pre-registration confirmation helps make the purpose concrete. Short meetings, market visits, and contract talks fit a business-visitor context, but paid local work does not.

For longer stays, do not run out the 30-day window and assume an extension will be granted. If the itinerary is longer, check the nearest Kazakh consulate or the official migration channels before departure.

Kyrgyzstan. Eligible Western and Asian visitors can stay up to 60 days, while Chinese ordinary passport holders receive 30 days [3]. Kyrgyzstan is the more flexible leg for many buyers, but it is still a separate immigration system. Carry proof of onward travel and your business programme, especially if you enter overland and then plan to fly out.

Non-eligible passport holders should apply for a Kyrgyz e-visa in advance. Do not leave that step until arrival.

The Regional Route That Works

A practical tour is: Tashkent for CAIHE, then a short flight to Almaty, followed by a road transfer to Bishkek, with a return flight to Tashkent or an onward departure from Bishkek.

This works because Tashkent keeps the trade fair as the trip’s base, Almaty is the largest market to follow up, and Bishkek is close enough to add without losing a full day. Check border crossing status before choosing an overland option and keep printed confirmations offline on your phone.

If you are planning supplier meetings in Almaty or Bishkek around CAIHE, pre-register for the show first and keep Tashkent as the fixed point. For route and buyer registration questions, contact [email protected].

Documents and Border-Day Checklist

At every border, the same documents matter more than the visa label alone:

  • Passport valid for at least six months beyond your arrival date
  • CAIHE pre-registration confirmation or admission badge
  • Return or onward ticket
  • Hotel confirmation or a meeting invitation from a local partner
  • Printed e-visa confirmation if one applies
  • Travel insurance with medical coverage
  • A short itinerary showing the three-country route

Keep the name on your passport, CAIHE badge, and flight bookings identical. A small mismatch can cost more time than a missing visa.

Common mistakes are avoidable. Do not assume Uzbekistan’s visa-free entry covers Kazakhstan or Kyrgyzstan. Do not count all three countries as one visa-free pool. Do not book a tight return based on a border crossing you have not confirmed. And do not wait until the final day to check an e-visa because portal processing can be slower around peak travel periods.

Your Next Step

Anchor the trip around CAIHE. Pre-register for CAIHE 2026, confirm your passport against each country’s current list, then lock the regional route. For help coordinating a multi-country visit, email the CAIHE team at [email protected] or call +86-21-6390 6161 ext. 828.

FAQ

Do I need a separate visa for Kazakhstan if I have Uzbekistan visa-free entry?

Yes. Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan have independent visa rules. Eligibility for Uzbekistan does not create automatic entry rights in Kazakhstan or Kyrgyzstan [1][2][3].

Which passport holders get visa-free entry in both Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan?

Many EU, UK, Gulf, and developed Asian market passport holders qualify for visa-free entry in both. Chinese ordinary passport holders also qualify for the current short-stay visa-free arrangements, but the permitted stay differs between the two countries [2][3].

How many days can I stay in each country on a CAIHE side trip?

Uzbekistan allows 30 days for eligible nationalities. Kazakhstan allows 30 days for eligible visitors. Kyrgyzstan allows 60 days for many Western and Asian visitors and 30 days for Chinese ordinary passport holders [1][2][3]. Each country counts the period independently.

What documents should I carry at Almaty or Bishkek immigration?

Carry a passport valid for at least six months, onward travel proof, accommodation proof, your CAIHE pre-registration or badge, and any printed e-visa confirmation. A simple itinerary showing Tashkent, Almaty, and Bishkek helps explain the trip’s purpose.

Do short business trips require registration in Kazakhstan or Kyrgyzstan?

For the short CAIHE side trips described here, the main rule is to respect the visa-free stay limit. Longer stays may trigger registration requirements, and the safest approach is to check official migration guidance before you plan an extended post-fair stay [2][3].

Can I re-enter Uzbekistan after visiting both countries?

This depends on the conditions of your Uzbekistan entry. Check whether your entry allows multiple visits before leaving Tashkent. If it does not, schedule the Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan leg after your CAIHE days and depart from the final country instead of returning through Tashkent.
