EA402 913-402-000-012/013: E040 vs E090 Connector Buying Guide

The EA402 extension cable connects an eddy current proximity probe to the signal conditioner in a vibration monitoring and machinery protection chain. The two most commonly ordered versions are 913-402-000-012 with E040 length and 913-402-000-013 with E090 length. This guide explains the real differences between the two, the connector and calibration checks that matter, and how to order the correct cable for TQ402/TQ412 probes and IQS450/IPC704 conditioners.

What EA402 Does in the Measuring Loop

The EA402 cable is not a simple sensor cable. It carries the high-frequency signal from the proximity probe to the conditioner, so cable length, capacitance, and shield termination directly affect gap voltage, signal linearity, and channel reliability.

A damaged or incorrectly selected extension cable can cause:

  • Gap voltage drift
  • False vibration or axial position readings
  • Channel fault alarms
  • Poor repeatability after replacement

The 913-402-000-012 and 913-402-000-013 share the same connector scheme. The difference is the cable body length defined by the E-code.

Decoding 913-402-000-012 vs 913-402-000-013

Part number Length code Nominal length Typical installation
913-402-000-012 E040 4 m Machine-mounted conditioner, local junction box, short cable tray runs
913-402-000-013 E090 9 m Remote monitoring rack, turbine deck to cabinet, long conduit runs

Both cables are normally supplied with the same mating connector ends. If you already have one installed, match the existing part number before changing the cable length.

When to Choose E040 or E090

Choose E040 when the probe and conditioner are close. A shorter cable has lower capacitance, less noise pickup, and easier routing. It is also the safer replacement when the original cable is known to be 4 m.

Choose E090 when the signal conditioner is in a remote rack or when the cable must pass through conduit, floor penetrations, or long cable trays. However, length is part of the calibrated probe loop. A longer cable adds capacitance. If you replace E040 with E090 without recalibrating the channel, the gap voltage and scale factor may shift. Always verify against the original system drawing or calibration record.

Connector Compatibility Checks Before Ordering

Both part numbers share the same connector shell and pinout. The key check is not only the length code, but the mating hardware on both ends.

Confirm these points before purchase:

  • Probe side: TQ402 or TQ412 model and connector style
  • Conditioner side: IQS450, IPC704, or junction box connector type
  • Shield drain connection: present and not damaged
  • Locking ring or coupling nut: not stripped or cross-threaded
  • Cable jacket: no cuts, kinks, or chemical damage

Do not substitute a generic industrial sensor cable. The pinout and electrical length are matched to the probe system. Field-spliced cables change impedance and can disable the measurement channel.

Ordering Information to Provide

When sending an RFQ or purchase request, include:

  • Full part number: EA402 913-402-000-012 or 913-402-000-013
  • Quantity required
  • Probe model, such as TQ402 111-402-000-012 or TQ402 111-402-000-013
  • Signal conditioner model, such as IQS450 204-450-000-001 or IPC704
  • Required cable route length if you are changing from the original length

Providing this information reduces the chance of receiving a connector-compatible but calibration-mismatched cable.

Installation Notes and Signal Integrity

After receiving the cable, follow these practices:

  • Keep the EA402 cable away from power leads, VFD output cables, and high-current busbars
  • Use the recommended minimum bend radius and do not pull by the connector
  • Ground the shield at one point only, normally at the conditioner side unless system documentation states otherwise
  • Check connector pins for straightness and cleanliness before mating
  • After replacement, perform a gap voltage check or full loop verification if the channel is part of a protection loop

Common Ordering Mistakes

  • Buying by length code only and ignoring probe and conditioner mating
  • Mixing E040 and E090 cables in the same multi-channel measurement without verifying calibration
  • Reusing an old connector with a damaged shield drain wire
  • Choosing aftermarket cable based only on “same connector” and not matching electrical length
  • Ordering extra length for future flexibility without planning recalibration

FAQ

Are 913-402-000-012 and 913-402-000-013 interchangeable?
Not directly. They have the same connector, but different electrical lengths. Use the same length as the original system unless the channel is recalibrated after the change.

How do I confirm the length code?
Check the cable marking. E040 means 4 m; E090 means 9 m. The part number suffix also identifies length: -012 for E040 and -013 for E090.

Can this cable be used only with TQ402 probes?
It is designed for the TQ402/TQ412 probe family and the matching signal conditioner or junction box. Always confirm the mating connector before purchase.

Do I need to replace the probe when the extension cable is damaged?
Not always. Inspect the probe connector and probe tip. If the probe connector is clean and the probe still passes a gap check, you may only need to replace the cable.

How do I place an order?
Provide the full part number, quantity, and the probe/conditioner model so the supplier can cross-check compatibility before shipment.

Joyoung International Trading Co., Limited stocks both EA402 913-402-000-012 and 913-402-000-013 and supplies complete TQ402/TQ412 sensor-to-conditioner chains. Contact us at [email protected] or +86-181-5013-7565 for current stock, lead time, and technical compatibility checks.
